Back to St Abbs and more monoprinting on a more A2 scale. The use of scrapers leading to more arm movement and wanting to carve out to give some sense of an overarching space for the birds to occupy. The paper flapping around and ink getting all over the place go with the chaotic feeling of movement and noise around the cliff.
We do warm up exercises nowadays, all gathered at the top of the cliffs and I think this was the day Kim Atkinson led us in a sound drawing exercise… very liberating to be advised to explore our toolboxes to find what might best depict each sound that we could unravel from the clamour.
Image above shows the thin paper bulldog clipped to board to stop it sailing off over the cliffs.
